The Prince of Wales has officially accepted an invitation from the Southern Seabird Solutions Trust to become our Royal Patron

His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales met with Southern Seabird Solutions personnel, Board members and Seabird SMART Fishing award recipients in late 2012 at a celebratory event as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee tour. The Trust has recently received confirmation that the Patronage is now official and are really excited about the opportunities it may present.

“This is great news for the Southern Seabird Solutions Trust,” says Trust Chair Bill Mansfield.  “Prince Charles’ involvement in environmental issues, including seabird conservation, is well known throughout the world.   We are very honoured to have his support for the Trust’s work.”

Adam, one of the recipients of the Seabird SMART Awards who met the Prince on late 2012 said "It was amazing! I never thought as a fisherman I'd ever get that opportunity, but there you go. We chewed his ear off as best we could for 10 or 20 minutes. I like to think that it was a good experience for him too and that he enjoyed meeting us as well."
