Southern Seabird Solutions Trust
CONSERVATION THROUGH COOPERATION
Southern Seabird Solutions empowers fishermen to make a difference.
By using role-models to champion new attitudes and behaviours, we encourage and support fishermen in New Zealand and around the world to adopt responsible fishing practices to avoid the death and injury of seabirds in the southern hemisphere.
We are an innovative alliance of the seafood industry, environmental groups, and government who take a cooperative approach to seabird conservation.
Our website will tell you about the work we do in New Zealand and internationally to find solutions to seabird by-catch, to educate people about this issue and to inspire them to get involved and act in a ‘seabird smart’ manner.
Charting the Course - Trust Review Workshop
The Trust turned six years old this year. There have been a lot of developments since the Trust was established, so we decided it was time to take a fresh look at the how the Trust can be most useful in working to reduce seabird bycatch.
Learn more about our two-day review workshop which was held on 10 and 11 November 2008 in Nelson, New Zealand.
