'Nominate a mate' for the 2015 Seabird Smart Awards
Here’s your chance to spread the word about your fleet’s achievements.22.09.2015
Nominations are now open for the New Zealand Seabird Smart Awards, so if you know someone who is making an extra effort to look after seabirds take a moment to nominate them.
It could be a skipper or crew, a manager, or even a vessel. Basically it can be anyone associated with fishing in New Zealand.
“We want to recognise people who are showing leadership and also to highlight the efforts being made by the fishing industry to look after seabirds,” says Southern Seabird Solutions Trust Convenor Janice Molloy. “Tell us who is going the extra mile for seabirds and we’ll get the message out.”
A prestigious event is being planned to raise awareness of the winners’ achievements. The last award winners met Prince Charles at Government House.
The 2015 Seabird Smart Awards are sponsored by the Ministry for Primary Industries, Sealord Group, Deepwater Group, Fisheries Inshore New Zealand, the Federation of Commercial Fishermen and Aotearoa Fisheries Ltd. The awards event is supported by Harbour Holdings.
